With 60 years of renewal and 60 years of liturgical scores, you ‘ll have time to enjoy a 60 minute ‘sing-along’. It is a time to turn the historical clock back, recall when this “new music” was a hit for your choir. No auditions, no solos, bagpipes or harmonicas or choir practice tonight. Join in entertaining summer evening reminiscing the history of liturgical music. You will be amused laughing at how perceptions of sharps and flats, crescendos and a bit of staccato have changed over the last half century plus. John’s wit will lead you to enjoy a good night’s sleep.
John Winkels has 39 years of liturgical music experience. He currently has served at Holy Family Parish in Kansas City, KS directing multiple choirs, musicians and creating the visual arts bringing to life the traditions of faith. He stops at farmers’ markets, lakes, cathedrals, mountains, and parks for a pipe organ. His everyday sidekick is Pepito, 4.5 lb Chihuahua. Both return on occasion to Minnesota and his hometown of Adams, MN. Joining John will be a variety of friends with instrument of times past.
