Sister June Kaiser, OSF
Sister June Kaiser, 97, a Franciscan Sister of the Congregation of Our Lady of Lourdes, Rochester, Minnesota, died at Assisi Heights on Monday, May 6, 2024.
Mary June Kaiser was born on June 19, 1926, in Columbus, Ohio, to Louis and Loretta (Ruetty) Kaiser. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis in 1951, received the name of Sister Sarto, and made perpetual vows in 1956. She received her Master’s in Education Administration from the University of Denver, Colorado, in 1961.
Sister June served as a teacher of secondary education at Notre Dame High School, Portsmouth, Ohio, 1953-1956; Lourdes High School, Rochester, Minnesota, 1956-1959; and Loretto High School, Caledonia, Minnesota, 1959-1966, while also serving as the Principal. From 1966 to 1968, she served as an associate director at Assisi Hall, Winona, Minnesota. From 1968-1969 she was a Novice Mistress and Campus Minister at the Newman Center-Winona State University, Winona, Minnesota. Sister June served as the Registrar at the College of St. Teresa in Winona, Minnesota, from 1969 to 1978. She then served as the Congregational Treasurer at Assisi Heights in Rochester, Minnesota, from 1978 to 1998, and then served as Consultant to the Congregational Treasurer from 1998 to 2004. After retiring in 2004 at Gaelic Grove in Rochester, Minnesota, she moved to Assisi Heights in 2017.
Survivors of Sister June Kaiser include her Franciscan Sisters, with whom she shared life for 72 years, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers James and Charles Kaiser, and sister Rosemary Pushnik.
