JUBILEE YEAR for ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI

Pope Leo XIV has proclaimed a Special Franciscan Jubilee Year running from January 10, 2026, through January 10, 2027. This year-long celebration commemorates the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis and promotes spiritual renewal, peace, and reflection on his life. The jubilee emphasizes St. Francis as a messenger of peace in a world marked by division and war.

Indulgences: A plenary indulgence is available to the faithful who visit a Franciscan convent’s church or a church dedicated to St. Francis, along with the usual conditions (confession, Communion, prayer for the Pope).

How to obtain an indulgence here: Receive Holy Communion. (Mass is held in Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel on Sundays and most Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11 am.) Pray for the intentions of Pope Leo XIV. Pray the Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, and invocations to Mary, Mother of God. Be truly repentant and free from any affection for sin. Cards explaining this, along with a page of prayers, are now available for visitors at the entrance to the Chapel.
