It goes without saying that the COVID-19 experience has us affected all in many ways. Drawing from the sources of Francis and Clare, among others, we will consider informally the question facing the reality of illness in the Franciscan Tradition. What is it to follow Christ even to Calvary, as Francis and Clare did? How can we draw inspiration from their words and attitudes?
Helen Rolfson, OSF, is Professor Emerita of Theology and Ecumenism having taught more than 35 years at St. John’s University in St. Cloud, MN. She has spent many summers researching and translating the works of Jan van Ruusbroec, a 14th Century Flemish mystic and Augustinian friar.
